For a temp position of 3 to 6 months, our client is looking for a Back Office officer to ensure that all transactions and financial instruments are settled in an adequate and timely fashion as per their contracts, as well as to provide business analysis for the team’s projects. The selected person will report to the Head of Middle and Back Office and Portfolio Performance.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Participate in day-to-day production tasks with other teams:
    • Run and monitor processes to clear and settle transactions
    • Ensure coordination with outsourced back office(s) to monitor and control operations
    • Reconcile systems by checking the data flows and stocks between the middle office and the outsourced back office(s)
    • Support operations in dealing with back office partners, including designated external service providers, custodians, book runners, and handling agents
      • Participate in new financial product implementation
        • Assist with business case definition, including defining appropriate requirements
        • Plan and monitor project steps, ensuring timely execution of key milestones to agreed specifications
        • Support the bank interactions with the front office investment personnel, or designated partners, including central bank operations desks and debt management offices in the euro area, as well as outsourced back office(s)

KEY BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE

  • University degree, preferably in finance and/or a banking specialisation.  A relevant professional qualification and/or post-graduate studies would be an advantage.
  • 3-4 years in financial operations processing, including significant participation in projects
  • Experience in the back office environment of financial markets with an emphasis on derivatives (IRS, FX-Spot, FX-Forward, FX-Swaps and Cross-Currency-Swaps), fixed income, money market instruments, and repos
  • Experience of collateral management processes including valuation
  • Broad knowledge of settlement flows and technical tools to process them (e.g. confirmation matching, swift messages, market infrastructure e.g. T2S and CLS)
  • Understanding of the financial concepts used in securities processing
  • Experience using Murex and other common IT systems prevalent in banking and/or trading and/or portfolio management, including position management and order management systems.
  • Experience in project management, preferably in the financial world (knowledge of standard project methodology, translation of business needs into IT requirements, processes definition, test planning, and execution)
  • Fluent in English, other languages considered an asset.
