The formalities
What formalities must you accomplish upon starting an assignment? Registering with Social Security:
Please note: people who work in Luxembourg and live across the border can benefit from health care both in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and in their country of residence. In order to claim these rights in your country of residence, you need to apply for an E106 form (BL1 form for Belgian citizens) by writing to Caisse de Maladie in Luxembourg. You will receive this E106 certificate a few weeks later. You must then send it to your HMO in your country of residence. You must repeat this procedure systematically whenever your assignment is extended, whenever taking up a new assignment or whenever your status changes! N.B.: your letters or faxes to Caisse de Maladie must set out:
